It is really important that your child attends school everyday. We promote excellent attendance and punctuality. The school doors open at 8:30am and we expect children to be in class learning at 8:45am. We close our registers at 9:00am - any child arriving after this time will receive an unauthorised absence mark. Ten unauthorised absences will result in a penalty fine.
Our Education Welfare Officer is Neil Grundy who is in school every Thursday morning. If you would need any advice or support from him he can be contacted through the school office.
Our attendance target for 2016/2017 is 96.5%. Our attendance so far this academic year is 95.3% (30.6.17).
Please be aware that from September 2015 if your child's attendance is less than 90% this will be classed as a persistent absence and could result in a fixed penalty notice or legal action.
Please follow the link to 'policies' to read our attendance policy and procedures.
We expect very high standards of behaviour in our school where everyone shows respect for each other.

Morning Sports Club
We have a Morning Sports Club which starts at 7:45am. This is led by a sports coach and is supervised by school staff. The Morning Sports Club costs £2:00 for each child.
The cook runs the school kitchen together with her team of staff. They prepare childrens' meals daily on the premises. Each week a new menu is served which gives children a choice between hot meals, sandwiches and salad and a choice of dessert.
All children in Reception, Year 1 and Year 2 are entitled to universal free school meals. For children in Nursery and Year3 to Year 6 school meals cost £2:00 per day. Please note that one weeks notice is required to change from sandwiches to school meals and vice versa.
If you think your child may be entitled to Free School Meals it is important to apply by ringing 0161 909 6508 between 8:00am and 6:30pm Monday to Friday or visit Pendleton Gateway at 1 Broadwalk, Pendleton. This will also ensure your entitlement to free school milk is recorded. Follow the link http://www.salford.gov.uk/schools-and-learning/free-school-meals for more information.
Parents who would rather send their child to school with a packed lunch are welcome to do so. We encourage lunch boxes to be healthy and balanced and should not contain sweets and chocolate.
Children can receive school milk if you wish them to have it. This is still provided free of charge to the under 5s. Once your child reaches their fifth birthday you will be expected to make a termly contribution to pay for their milk. You will be sent a letter in advance of each new term asking you if you would like your child to have milk and detailing the cost for that term. If your child is registered for Free School Meals you do not have to pay for the milk, but you still need to return the request form.
The only drink allowed in school is plain water. All children are encouraged to drink water during the day. We encourage you to send a plastic bottle of water from home each day. This is particularly necessary in the summer months and on PE days.
Children can bring vegetables or fruit into school as a snack. If your child is aged four to six and attends a fully state-funded infant, primary or special school, they are entitled to receive a free piece of fruit or vegetable each school day. This provides one of their 5 A DAY portions, and the scheme also helps to increase awareness of the importance of eating fruit and vegetables, encouraging healthy eating habits that can be carried into later life.
Our uniform is an important outward sign of pride in belonging to Summerville Primary School.
Gold or white polo shirt
Royal blue cardigan or sweatshirt
Tailored grey or black trousers or skirt
During the summer term girls may wear blue gingham dresses and children may wear grey or black shorts.
For health and safety reasons children must change their clothing for PE. We provide each child with a bag to keep their PE kit in which stays in school until the holiday when it should be taken home to be washed.
Plain white T-Shirt
Plain black shorts
Trainers and tracksuits may be worn for outdoor PE lessons during cold weather
PE bags, book bags, cardigans, sweatshirts, fleece jackets and polo shirts embroidered with the school's name may be bought from the school office. Although plain items in school colours bought elsewhere are also acceptable.
Please ensure all your child's clothing is clearly labelled with their name and class.
After School Clubs
At Summerville Primary School we offer a wide range of after school clubs. Clubs allow the children to interact with children from across the school and have lots of fun at the same time. All after school clubs finish at 4:15pm. Clubs are charged at £2.00 a child. Cookery club costs £3:00 a child as we have to provide ingredients.
